The 94th Indianapolis 500 (2010 Indy 500) is scheduled to be run on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It will be the 15th Indy 500 sanctioned by the Indy Racing League. It will be the premier event of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season. It is the second race of the three-year long Centennial era, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the 100th anniversary of the first Indy 500. It is scheduled for the traditional race date of May 30, and is expected to be the 53rd occurrence (of 94) on that date.
